Martha Alice Burton was just 27 years old when she and her six children passed away in a house fire in Texarkana, Arkansas on January 6, 1982. She had just lost her father six months prior and was still grief stricken when this occurred. They lived in a two story home and were all upstairs when the fire broke out, it was caused by an electrical malfunction.
She had four sons, Henry, Adam, Leon and Antonio, two daughters Ethel and Linda who all perished in the house fire. Tim and I were seniors in high school when this happened and it's still shocking today as it was then.
Her parents, Dock Nicholas Burton, Sr. and Maudie Mae Coffey-Burton.
Her siblings, Five brothers: Walter, Eddie, Nick, David and Timothy. One sister: Linda Burton-Henry
Martha never met a stranger, was always smiling and had many friends. Martha and her six precious children are loved and missed today and always.
